Charming, tranquil and quintessentially colonial; a melting pot of native and Spanish heritage, colonial architecture and fine crafts, nestled high in a mountain valley.
See fossilised waterfalls
Over 50 metres high, Hierve el Agua waterfalls have formed from the flow of the area’s sulphuric waters. The water passes through calcium carbonate, magnesium, and sulphur making the water appear to be boiling. Go swimming in the natural springs, famous for their healing properties.
Breakfast at the markets
Spend a morning at the colourful Benito Juarez markets. If you’re feeling adventurous try atole, a hot cornmeal drink, with some tamales, a Mexican-style corn bread.
