St Patrick’s Festival

If you’re in Dublin in March you can’t miss the five-day St Patrick’s Festival celebrations, when the city hosts fireworks, street performers, music, comedy, dance, and night spectacles ... culminating on Tuesday with the St Patrick’s Day Parade.

Dublin’s oldest pub

It’s been serving pints of the black stuff for centuries and The Brazen Head claims to be Dublin’s oldest pub, dating back to 1185. With luscious ales that will quench any thirst, good food and live music, this is a true Irish pub experience.

Walk along the Liffey

Take in the Irish capital with a walk along the River Liffey. Simply follow the course of the river through the city, from the resurrected Dublin docklands to Phoenix Park.

Phoenix Park

Dublin is home to Europe’s largest urban enclosed park, 1760-acre Phoenix Park, the perfect place to unwind with a picnic on a summer’s day. The park is also home to a herd of fallow deer. Situated less than three kilometres from the city centre, entry to Phoenix Park is free of charge.

Eating out in The Bank

Recently restored, The Bank was originally the home of the Belfast Bank, and more recently The Royal Bank. Now a licensed restaurant and bar, the restoration work to the interior, once the main hall, is quite stunning, so remember your camera.

Windmill Lane Studios

If you are a fan of U2 then this is where the first three albums were recorded. It was originally opened in 1978, and although it is no longer home to Windmill Studios, fans from around the world have decorated the walls with their own graffiti tributes.
