It’s a land of warm welcomes, mythical beauty and thousands of years of cultural tradition, and Ireland’s rolling landscapes and generous spirit capture the heart of all of its visitors. Capital cities Dublin and Belfast vie for position as hip and modern European destinations, while the regional centres offer spectacular scenery, compelling history and genuine Gaelic charm!

Gourmet Belfast
In the last ten years tourists have returned to Northern Ireland in droves and the country has responded to this rejuvenation with typical Irish spirit. Capital city Belfast’s restaurants rival any in Europe and have helped establish the city as a must-see destination. For a taste of luxury, try Deane’s Restaurant, the only Michelin-starred restaurant in the country, with fabulous gourmet Irish and British dishes. TV celebrity chef Paul Rankin’s award-winning restaurant Cayenne has a modern, funky vibe, serving up quality Irish fare with an Asian or Mediterranean twist.
Gaelic football
Don’t miss the chance to experience an energetic taste of Gaelic football, Ireland’s most popular sport. Similar to AFL, and said to be a heavy influence on its development, Gaelic football originates from the 16th century and today pits two teams of 15 people against each other for a 60-minute game, played on a rectangular pitch with a round leather ball. The 34 teams compete in an inter-county season from February to April, then in the All Ireland Championship, starting in May with the final held in September at Dublin’s Croker Park.
Get back to nature
Take the opportunity to get back to nature in one of Ireland’s many stunning forests and parks. One of the best places to get away from it all is Killarney National Park, an immense 10,000 hectare area of woodland, pasture, lakes and mountains, perfect for walking and biking. The national park has many native oakwoods and yew woods and an abundance of evergreen trees and shrubs. For natural wonders, don’t miss a visit to Northern Ireland’s superb geological phenomenon, the Giant’s Causeway. Legend has it that the Causeway was the result of an argument between the giant Finn MacCool and a Scottish giant called Benandonner about 60 million years ago. Every year, around half a million people visit North Antrim’s magnificent coastline to marvel at the spectacular formation of basalt columns of the Giant’s Causeway.
