Northern Ireland has the best of both worlds with Irish and British heritage.
Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland, and now really is the time to visit! The city is compact and easy to get around. You can follow the Titanic trail through the Victorian streets, see the passion of the people with the Murals of Shankill and Falls road, or just marvel at the Victorian architecture.
You can still enjoy the traditions of Irish music in many of the old pubs, and with modern bars and restaurants popping up everywhere the nightlife is vibrant.
Belfast:
Belfast sits on the River Lagan, and to the West lies the beautiful slopes of Black Mountain and Cave Hill.
The compact city centre offers all the usual high street retail shopping chains including Marks & Spencers. If you are looking for something more unique to Belfast then keep an eye open for fine Belleek China and Tyrone Crystal. At the centre of the city is the imposing Victorian building that is City Hall. Located in Donegal Square you may take a free guided tour to inspect this 19th Century marvel.
Derry:
Also known as Londonderry and is the fifth largest city in Ireland. Located on the River Foyle the city has an amazing history and a stroll round the 1.5km 17th Century wall is a must. The wall is almost intact and was the last to be constructed in Europe. Just inside one of the new gates (Magazine Gate) is the Tower Museum which explains the history of Derry and the founding St. Colmcille’s Monastery.
