 Travel Tips

Tipping
Unlike in most other countries, tips & gratuities are generally not included in the prices you will see listed. It is customary to tip approximately 15% for all services.

Tipping should accurately reflect the quality of the service rendered and therefore is at your discretion.

 Currency

Coins: 1 cent is called a penny, 5 cents is called a nickel, 10 cents is called a dime, 25 cents is called a quarter.

All bank note denominations are of the same green colour, so check your money carefully before handing it over! Be sure to keep a large supply of small change and bank notes for taxis, buses and tipping.

Banks: Open 9.00am-3.00pm Monday to Friday (some until 9.00pm Friday). Foreign currency can be exchanged at international airports and major banks.

Travellers’ cheques drawn on American banks are easy to deal with and are accepted in stores, restaurants and hotels.
